News: Sigma Alpha Epsilon Presents: Flex Out Hunger [Recap] (@sae1856)

SAE's Flex Out Hunger was one of the year's last philanthropy events held, however it's impact as well as the impact of all of the events, throughout the year, have greatly benefitted many, both in Montgomery County and across the nation. Hit the jump to read a recap written by one of Sigma Alpha Epsilon's own, Brett Simone as well as a few snapshots.

Over one hundred brothers of Virginia Tech’s Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter set up around Virginia Tech's campus with a singular goal; feeding the poverty stricken residents of Montgomery
County, VA. In their annual philanthropy, Flex Out Hunger, SAE and Virginia Tech Dining Services collect meal plan donations from students and donate them to the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program (MCEAP). The proceeds go towards the purchase of food and other essential supplies for any residents of Montgomery County in need.

The goal for Flex Out Hunger this year was $15,000 and the brothers were certainly committed
to reaching it. Stands outside of almost every major dining hall were manned from 11am until 8pm
for collection, and it was difficult to find anyone on campus that hadn’t heard brothers shouting Flex
Out Hunger slogans at some point. While the results are not in yet, SAE’s brotherhood expects a record
breaking year due to increased advertising of the event and due to several generous donations upwards
of $500 in value.

A special thanks to Virginia Tech Dining Services for their support and to the Virginia Tech
community for continuing to be the among the most charitable and selfless college communities in the
nation.
